plants that are safe for cattle

I just recently bought a 20 acre piece of property mostly pasture a little bit wooded with 2 spring fed ponds anyway on one side there is un erosion poblem and the cattle rancher that i share that fenceline with said he didn't care if i planted plants on that side to stop the errosion but make sure their cattle safe i was going to plant vinca but i dont know were to go to find out what is safe for cattle i would appreciate any info
