grazing wheat ?

When wheat is grazed at what height should the plants be when the grazing is started and when are the cattle removed? TIA

I've never grazed wheat, but have done oats and rye quite a bit, and I assume it would be similar. I don't have any science involved; this is just what has worked for me.

I usually turn them in at around 8-10 inches. When I remove them depends on whether I want to combine the grain or not. If so, I remove them in time for the grass to recover and produce the seed heads. If not, I leave them access until it matures and browns up, or until I need to turn it under. They love the young seed heads in the milk stage.

If you graze wheat make sure they get a good magnesium supplement to prevent grass tetney.
