teat dip - do you, how, what product?

What product do you use if you use any for a teat dip following milking?

i dont, i use warm wet cloth with a little anti bac soap, wipe each teat in turn with separate part of towel, then whole udder, then quick swipe at loose stuff on the belly

I do not milk. The neighbor does however. He has a large dairy herd and he uses betadine which comes to him in 55 gallon barrels.

I use DeLaval, Pretech for predipping and Della One for postdipping.

I use an IBA iodine based dip for post dip

during the winter we use dermasept on the farm where i work. It is some good stuff but expensive

Lots of different ideas. I was hoping there is a disposable wipe. If you do use a dip cup, do you only keep enough in for one milking then dispose of it? Thanks again!

PS: I received the 9qt SS pail from Wiggins and the lid is just awful fitting, but the pail is nice. I do think I'm going to look for a can or the goat pail with partial lid to keep more chaff out of my milk.

You can get a teat dip that is in an aerosol can-- no waste and stays clean-- for one or two cows I would think it would work great.

I don't pre-dip, but use individual wet cow towels in a water/sanitizer solution and then dry off with individual paper towels.

For post dipping, I've been using Derma-Kote and DermaSept and been pleased with both.

I milk Holsteins in a tie-stall barn.

My own opinion is, if your happy with what your using and your cell count is low, stick with it. If your new to milking and checking out options or not happy with what your using, or your cell count is high, this aerosol product would be worth looking into.

I used the fiasco farm recipe posted above as a premilking wash and a post milking teat dip. I finished it off with a spray of Fight Bac (a blue aerosal product). The homemade dip was very economical.
