Another New Delivery!

As some of you remember I don't have a bull and my cows are dropping calves! in November we had 2 of our beef cows birth calves just out of the blue! Well, today I delivered a bull calf from one of our dairy girls that is on lone from a friend, supposedly she wasn't bred and our neighbors' bull was so nice to hop the fence last month for a visit. We couldn't figure out why he wasn't interested in this one cow but liked all the others. Well we found out today! At the begining of this summer we started out having only 3 beef cows, now we have the 3 beef cows, 2 with calfs, 3 under 1 year old steers, 3 dairy cows, 2 with calfs and 1 very large bull! Sure is crowded in our barn with all the goats and llamas too!

Had this happen with one of my own bulls and had I not seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. Thought the fence was torn down when I looked out the window, but he cleared it. Putting him in the Olympics next year after I put up some electric wire to keep him from doing it again.

How much space do you have for all that new beef? Plan on putting any in the freezer?

O yes we will put some in the freezer. We only had one to put in last year so we should be able to fill it up. The barn is 40'x50' with a lean-to attached.just thier side. The girl goats' side is 30'x50' (46 goats)! It really is a mess when the weather causes everyone to get in the barn. The barn size was one reason we bought this place, it was used as a horse stud farm, so the barn accually has 3 separate rooms, the 2 stall areas and a concrete room I use for milking. Husband is an electrian so we have a water heater and furnise to keep it above 40* in the winter and large attiac fans to cool it in the summer. Also running water!
