2 registered dexter bulls for sale in Georgia

I've got 2 registered Dexter bulls for sale. One is 15 months old and the other is 5 months old. Both are very docile and come from a good pedigree. I'm asking $600 obo each. Could deliver in the Southeast with a little planning.

Nice looking little guys you've got there. Wish you were closer to NY, might be able to take you up. Right now, we're on a borrowed bull, and hope he throws some red heiffers. But looking for a registered bull of our own to work with.

Thanks for the compliment. We take alot of pride in growing the best and healthest cattle possible. If you were a little closer I'd save you a trip. If I don't sell them before long I either put them in the freezer, or take them to market. They'll make someone a fine herd bull.

Probably won't get as much, but I've got to make room for more on the way.

Here's a picture of their dam and sire. I got them from Genbo on here.

Nice dexters! Maybe if you put their reg. numbers up people would look them up and it might help them to know the bloodlines.

Good luck!

Sher,

Thanks for the infomation. You're probably right, because I have pictures of each cow listed of my pedigree chart on the ADCA website.

The sire, Stillwater's Ryder's pedigree is at:

The dam, Windridge Bantrybevin is at:

The 15 month old, Bullabaise of Paradise is at:

http://www.dextercattle.org/pedigree...&Page=1&Sort=0

It looks like the registration is pending on the 5 month old.

The links above may be folded on 2 lines. If so, you have to paste both halves into the address bar of your browser.

The sire was shown at the 2004 ADCA show and sale. He's a very well configured bull, with a beautiful curly coat.

The dam is also the dam of my herd bull, Brenn of Paradise. I truly love that little guy. Bevin, as I call the dam, makes wonderful calves.

The pedigrees of the sire and dam are as diverse as you're likely to find in the eastern United States. These two young bulls probably represent more of the good Dexter lines than you could find elsewhere.

If you're needing a good bull, one of these would be a good choice. The price is right, too.

This is interesting genebo!! LOL...we had Bultaco's pedigree pulled up last night. Do you still have that boy? By chance do you have a way for him to be in Iowa yet?

I still have Bultaco at the moment, but he is scheduled to move to his new home in Chesterfield County, VA on Tuesday.

I went over to inspect the fences there yesterday and found them to be just fine. He'll be in field fence with a single strand of electric along the top.

Bultaco and Bullabaise have the same sire, but Bultaco is out of Windridge Bantrybeth, Bevins mother. the two bulls should be very similar.

I hadn't seen Bultaco for 2 months, while he was breeding some dairy cows. His coat has gotten so long and silky. I'm sure the coat is an inheritance from Ryder, since none of my other lines have a coat like that.

How're Noelly and Pinkie and the twin bulls?

Ah genebo...its super that you found Bultaco a great home...the only thing better would have been him in OUR pasture! I just think he's gonna be a dandy..the way its looking..we're gonna have to hang on to Woody one more round.

Best of luck genebo!

Gene,

Thanks for the info and kind words. Hope all is well.

I took one (15 month old) to the local scales today and he weighed in at 520lbs. We thought about keeping him for beef for ourselves, but I think I've decided to take him to the local auction. I hope to get at least $500 (which is all I could probably get from a private individual looking for a dexter bull). Depending on how he sells will determine what I do with the younger bull (5 month old). If the older doesn't bring what I want. I'll probably go ahead and steer the 5 month old and raise him for our beef. I've also had a lot of people (work & local churches) who were interested in buying it processed knowing it is organically raised beef. (People are starting to take notice with all the stuff about cloned beef in the news)

Unfortunately I found that bulls are harder to sell than the cows and heifers. People just don't seem to have a need to keep as many bulls around. We are expecting 3 more calves soon, so we've got to make some space.

I hope you do ok, but a gal recently took her Dexter bull to the Tulsa sale barn and got 35 cents a Lb for him!! And he was a a big boy, somewhere around 900 Lbs.

Let us know how it goes,

Carol

GR,

Before going to the sale barn and getting such a low price, I'd try taking out an ad for the beef. You can sell him on the hoof and deliver him to the butcher. Ownership would change hands there, and the new owner can have him cut and wrapped to order. There's no license required to sell him that way, and you can ask considerably more than you're likely to get at the sale barn.

At his weight, I'd ask $2.00 per lb. hanging weight, which will be around 375 lb. That will be a better bargain for you, and a good deal for the buyer. There's no other way they can get natural beef for a price that low.

If you word your ad right, you can probably get more than that for him. Don't use the word organic, but stress natural, grass-fed, healthy, antibiotic-free, and other things.

Go here to read the Eatwild reasons for natural grass-fed beef, and use this in writing your ad. http://www.eatwild.com/articles/confused.html
