Unless it turns out that the bad prions spontaneously generate Mad Cow can be controlled by simply not feeding animal protein to cattle.

There is no, repeat no, concrete proof MCD was caused by the feeding of animal protein to cattle. It is only the leading theory. It does not explain why some cows came down with MCD when there were fed no animal protein during their lives.
