Farm finally started

Well, my brother has always wanted to be a farmer,so last November we bought a farm. He lives there, I'm 4 hours away. He moved up there permanantly in July. I have been up there the last two weekends. I talked to him the other day, he finally got some animals. Seems him and the GF went to a chicken bar-b-q to eat. Also some kind of chicken show/flea market. He said he got some birds. Barred Rocks and some other breeds I can't remember. Okay, now it's official, he's a farmer. (I guess I'm a farmer too, 'cause I've had bantams and layers for 5 or 6 years now)So I talk to him yesterday. Says he's going to look at some cows. Calls me back later in the day to tell me he bought some Dexters, a bred heiffer, a couple of cows with calves. Cool, I was checking out Dexters and pointed him towards them, since he never actually farmed on his own ( worked on a farm when young, graduate of Cornell Ag sciences etc) Says the cows are nice dairy bred (he wants to do dairy) Didn't get a bull yet, but probably soon. Now the kicker. He always wanted a belted breed, calls me this afternoon. Says he picked up a Dutch Belted heiffer at the local auction. So it's from nothing to a whole bunch in one week. Now he's in for a real education! I plan on heading up there next weekend with the missus and Pop. I will take pictures.

Boy, cows aren't very cooperative when I try to take pictures. "Dot" in the back is really an unknown breed. Possibly a Holstein, about 600 Lbs. The other two are registered Dexters.

This is Dianna. I think my brother named her for my wife. ( no, my wife isn't a fat cow, but I have a habit of naming my livestock after women I know, so I think he's keeping up the tradition)
