Bottle Jersey Heifer Calf?

I called the dairy where I bought my Jersey from last year to see if they would be willing to part with one of their day-old heifer calves. I've no idea if they would be willing. If they're not, I know a buyer that will find one for me. Thing is, I've no idea what the price might be. Around $300 is what day old Holstein heifers went for in Florida when you could find one. A 3 month oldheifer calf sold for $500 last month. Any ideas? I want to go with a day old cause I don't have a lot of cash up front and want her to be very tame.

I haven't bought any heifers down here, cause none of the dairies will part with them, but I expect you're in the ballpark at $300-$500.

If you are looking for a Holstein, get a phone book for Okeechobee Florida and look under dairies. Still plenty of smaller family run Holstein dairies that may part with one heifer calf for about $300. I left last year but at that time, they still talked to people. Bishop Dairy, Dry Creek Dairy, and Milkin R Dairy are three of the smaller ones that come to mind. The Larson Dairy and Butler Dairy are bigger (Larson is huge) but still approachable. Good luck to you and thanks for the information.
