Sure, but I don't know how much. If I recall 4 drops per gallon is the right amount for drinking. I don't know how much you need to help control the slime though.

I don't think bleach will help much at least not at levels that are safe for your animals to drink. Keeping the tank in the shade helps a lot as it is sunlight that causes that green slime to grow. Other than that, cleaning them out as needed is my only solution.

I googled and found this stuff, no idea if it works:

Just leave the slime. It doesn't hurt a thing.

Hydrogen Peroxide, figure out the right amount. It will kill the slime, it will also sweeten the water, neutralize the metals in the water. It will not hurt the animals either.

Edit: The stuff you use is 30%, and it is Food Grade stuff I beleive, or medical grade. Either way, this would be a lot better than bleech.

Last year we tried goldfish in our tanks. The little ones you get at the bait shops, about 3-4 in each tank didn't have to clean out but once all summer. Let the science class take care of them through the winter, going to pick them up next weekend as the weather should be ok now. If you have ducks just watch them mine left them alone but were very curious for awhile.
