Goats milk for a jersey calf?

I plan on feeding my little jersey heifer Rose goats milk. Do I need to do anything different as far as amounts or anything? The amish man said he feeds as much as she will take twice a day. He said to take her up to 3/4gal twice a day and increase as she will eat it and that's how he raises them. What do you all think??

I have a friend that does that with drop calves and orphan calves from a very top dollar ranch, that's how we got my heifer. Goats milk is the universal milk, it has enough of everything to take care of any critter including humans. We get good animals and her children don't complain about having to drink goat milk.

When you bring her home and start her on goats milk, I would lower the amount from what she has been getting for about the 1st 2 days, till her digestive system gets used to the change. Then *slowly* up it till she is getting as much as you want her too. I have fed dairy steers as much milk as they comfortably wanted twice a day. It was somewhere just under 1 gallon twice a day. They sure did grow fast! Goats milk is the best replacer for mothers milk that there is. If you have to raise orphaned puppies, kittens, rabbits, squirrels, etc.....use goat milk, its great.
