Wits End

I've got a banded Holstein in my pasture, and he's a great bovine, but today I'm at wits end....He has gotten out of the fence four times....He has neved bothered with it before, so I don't know what's going on. He's got ample grass, etc to eat, so why is he so headstrong to get out?

My hunch is he knows there is a heifer or cow in heat nearby.

....Has the temperature escalated, and along with it the fly and pest load?
Oftentimes this time of year cattle are suddenly hit by new flies, etc. It makes them so miserable they will fence crawl in order to find thick brush they can hide out in to seek releif. If this is situation, a good dose of Pour-On product like Ivomec or Cydectin will take pest load off and calm them down.
......If you have allready addressed these problems, check water supply?
Something is amiss.

Put up a single strand of electric, use a hot fencer and that should help a lot. When he goes to stick his nose under the fence, he will get snapped. We do this for calves, and as soon as they get wacked, they stay away.
