We have been buying about 250 pounds a month. a gallon has been dissappering in about 4 days since the first of July. We store it in the kitchen stacked up in front of the range. Have to unstack it to use the oven, we try to do meals that do not require the uses of said oven.

Medication starts next week, if the temps stay cool.

now I don't feel funny having so much on hand ,, the girls weigh about 125 to 140 so I may not have to feed , but will put a big candy bar in when I put them to bed ,, depends what deal I run in to this fall ,, if I run in to some good ,but cheap fruit I get it and whip it in to wine ,, that's were some of my sugar goes

AL ,, hope your finding good price's cause $1.99 has been the best around here .. and that was at a small store ,, why they had that price I do not know ,, other stores have been $2.49 + ,, one store had it for $2.29 for a week ,,

I bought half a pallet with another bigger bee keeper in July for $1.37 a pound. It was in 25 pound bags so I put it in 5 gallon pails with sealable lids to store in the honey house till we needed it.

Watch for sales just before heavy baking holidays too.

OOP's $1.37 for 5 pounds is what the 25 pound bags broke down to.

Sugar plant is in Croswell Michigan and Bay City.
They are hauling beets in there like crazy now. The bees look on the small side this year.

I store mine in the barn on a pallet wrapped in plastic. I don't care if it hardens up or not. If it does, I'll brake it into chunks and sit in on the top of the inner cover and put an empty super around it and then put the telescoping lid on. My hives are wiping out a quart jar of sugar water right now in two days each. I'm not sure I'll be able to justify the honey production next year for what I'm going to spend on sugar this winter.

here no sugar gets dumped ,, a bag got wet and that is going to be used for syrup ,, even the candy bar that is still there next spring ,, that I put on this fall ,, so that if they were short on stores ,, the candy bar will be made in to syrup , for spring feeding ....
