Easiest swarm I ever hived

Had a hive go native on me last Thursday - happened to be out working and saw them. They landed in the pines on a small branch as chest level not even back in the stickies. Got out the trimmers, snipped off the branch and done. Though how simple that was. Usually they land in the top of the trees so a ladder is needed (and never handy). Split the parent hive (had a number of swarm cells) into 5 nucs and left the parent hive with cells also. Went out yesterday (Tuesday) and the parent hive threw an afterswarm - not large but big enough. Though to myself they will never be as co-operative as the main swarm (you know the karma thing) but was dead wrong. They landed on one of the tables not seven feet from the parent hive and festooned in the edge. Go figure. Took longer to walk to the barn and find another nuc than to hive them. Someone was smiling on me I guess.

Now that's the way to get it done!! So many hives from the parent one, too.
