Been busy as a bee!
Other than chasing bees around during the weekend, I did hive inspections on 2 of my 6 hives today. Will submit a report of a very fast build up. One hive has two deeps and a medium absolutely chucked full of bees, the other has 3 deeps and a medium, but there is a bit more room. Both hives show very healthy bees and sparkling clean hives. Added another medium with half of the frames foundationless, over each hive.
Both have a big store of pollen, some nectar, but very little capped honey. I can only imagine they are taking the food and feeding brood as fast as it comes in. Oh yeah, they also have drones galore.
I have formulated a bit of a theory here. I have not feed any sugar water so they need to forage. I wonder if they would be going out on the colder 40 degree days - like they have been doing - if all they had to do was mosey on over to the sugar trough? Anyway, I have frames of honey in the freezer should the weather turn real cold...
Lean and mean, that is how I like 'em!
Made a few videos, hope you enjoy them:
