Hive location question

So...how close would you put a couple hives in relation to your pistol range?

Yup, serious question.

I have a fairly active gun range with two conceal carry classes a month, Tuesday Night Steel and guys going down with family or friends on the weekends. For our spring league we have shot, something like 11, 000 rounds in total with a group of 30 shooters.

About 300 yards away in the opposite direction of the firing line there area couple nucs I started from splits and a 3 acre vegetable garden.

Whether it be a Ruger 10/22 or a Maxim water cooled 8mm Machinegun, they are not bothered by the guns and the shooters are not bothered by the bees.

I would not place them any where they can be seen down range from the shoot line and I would not place the anywhere near your impact area.

If you ever end up getting bees that are even slightly aggressive all you need is one sting while shooting and risk of accident goes up.

Thank you both for the response. I am not too worried about richochets as the hives would be behind the shooters when they are facing the targets.

I was more worried about the noise upsetting the bees. Except for once a month I am usually the only shooter. That once a month gets pretty noisy though.

Does the fact that the least food dense area for the bees, for quite some distance, is in the direction of the range matter?
