smokers

Hello again,
I'd like to hear about everyones favourite smokers and why they chose the one they did.

I must tell you I have an eight year old sidekick who really wants to keep bees...so the smoker needs to be safe. Quality is important to us as he may be using it for quite a few years.
We are Canadian so a supplier here would be nice but not that important.

Thanks again for all the help and the wonderful forum!

Eliza and James

I recommend getting a smoker that has a guard. Note the difference here:

At one point or another when you're working your bees, something will happen which requires the immediate use of both your hands and you will instinctively place your smoker under your arm or between your legs. If you don't have a guard, it will only take a second for the burning-hot metal to make you wish you had spent $4 more and got a smoker with a guard. Don't ask me how I know this.

Here is a link to a supplier of bee keeping equipment in Alvinston Ont.
They are super nice people and will help you select the right equipment for your area and give free advice willingly.
