So, we have a natural disaster that has shut down a big part of USA fuel production. Driving price up a lot, and probably shortages in the short term.
And we are _not_ supposed to buy any oil from Arab supplies, only buy our petro products from USA sources??????? You want us to cut our supply of crude oil by another, what, 1/3?????
How is _that_ supposed to work out? Just can't be. If anything, we will need to buy more Arab oil for the next 6 months or so. Not less.

Circle K's in Phoenix are running out. Panic buying. We topped my BF's saturn off this morning, my truck's at 7/8ths of a tank but I'll top it off and fill my plastic cans as well. Glad I got that truck now ... that huge tank may be painful to fill, but it's got a 450 mile range ...
Phoenix has a tight supply of gas under NORMAL circumstances and we've been bumped into a shortage a few times in the past. The result is mass panic and near rioting -- the last time we had a shortage was a few years ago and I ended up going to court as a witness to a vehicular assault at a gas station, when someone cut in line and ran an old man down over gas.

I find this all very interesting. Yesterday hubby and I stopped to fill the truck up as it was near empty. Regular was $2.42. We live in Mississippi. The phone lines are messed up so it's been almost impossible to get a credit card charge to go through since Katrina hit, but gas prices here hadn't changed as of yesterday.
Sure hope hubby has gas in the car. He commutes 45 miles to work.

11:30 update from central Alabama:
I live in a rural area, and word has spread that there is only one gas station left with gas in three towns. All the others are dry, including the one I mentioned this morning who thought he'd bought enough to last him through Labor Day.

We may not be driving to The Farm for Labor Day Weekend. Somehow, between last night and lunch time today, gas shot up to $3.45 for premium -- that's $3.25 for REGULAR!!
Sheesh.
Someone commented on the fact that President Bush is going to encourage us to conserve. Frankly, I think that makes eminent sense. It's the first sensible thing I've heard from an Oval Office that told us in the aftermath of 9/11 that would should go out and shop.

Yikes!! We are taking a car trip (well, planning to) starting next Tuesday. This may change things.
Gas yesterday morning was 2.69 for regular. Today regular gas was priced $2.89 at one store (I bought it) and $3.11 for regular at another. Might just be over $3 everywhere by the weekend, what with Friday morning being the day prices usually change here.

I was told at noon time that it was $3.589 in a near by *town*.
There was also the $5 rumor for the up comming weekend.
The "good" part of that might be to keep some of the idiots off the road this weekend................we'll see.
How do you spell..............GREED...

Gas is 3.16 here, went up 40 cents over night. Cumberland Farms is a bunch of greedy MFers. TG I filled up at 2.52 the day before.

We are on the west coast and gas prices are still jumping, even though the location of the natural disaster isn't where we get our gas. It has been jumping 10-12 cents a gal every day. We are up to 2.89 for regular as of this morning.

Gas was $2.59 here in east central Indiana last night when I filled both cars and 3 5gal gas cans, today it is $3.19.
We may well see $4.00 by labor day depending on what damage reports come out of the Gulf coast concerning the refineries and rigs.
I wonder how many people are going to cancel their plans for the holiday weekend, if any.

Mrs. just heard they 'may' raise the prices here to cover losses elsewhere.Guess we already understood that, but still, just shows we are all going to feel this.

He's #1 in my book of low life, scum sucking, snake licking, corrupt politicians... followed closely by Daley. Aren't we fortunate to have BOTH in Illinois?!
Anyway, $2.99 for the cheap stuff, $2.75 for diesel (including bio).
