When I lived in town I was on a 3Mbps cable modem and got spoiled. Here in the country dial-up wasn't/isn't even available. It was either satellite or one of the new wireless services that have sprung up in some rural areas. I have a couple of friends who had satellite from directway and it isn't suitable for everything but it beats dial-up with a big stick. I've tried to work on dial-up connection occasionally and it just drives me nuts. The wireless service I subscribe to isn't really fast but it is better than dial-up or satellite. There are new wireless technologies coming up that will really help in getting true broadband out to the boonies. There is some money to be made for the enterprising types who want to bring it to rural areas as well. I'd be doing it myself if it wasn't already being done around here.
