My husband and I are both members and have been for a few years now. Although I don't agree on their politics for everything; I do agree on most issues. You keep you appraised of those issues and they do encourage you to voice your opinion and let them know how you feel. If the folks who subscribe put up enough fuss about the issues, they will change their views. It's the subscribers who pay the bills after all! You can't get the insurance or the discounts if you don't subscribe.
As far as the benefits go, I find the magazine alone worth the price of membership. Very interesting articles, and it isn't just for elderly. The magazine is geared more toward middle age to active retiree. The insurances are worth taking a looking at if you live in an area where not much is available. You also can't beat the discounts!
