We're the proud parents of an 8 year old yellow lab / shar-pei / pitbull mix. She's a lazy blonde porch dog. Her name is Libby. Calm as the day is long. I think it's 'cause we got her when DD was 2 years old. Grew up together, and Libby figured she was supposed to be carried around as a pup, play dress-up, and make-believe.

I have two dogs at this time.My once in a lifetime Aussie Shepherd named Dundee,he`s going to be 17 this June. He`s a Red~Tri and such a gorgeous dog.He will do anything asked of him even if it was going to put him in danger.Always great with the kids, and would herd all of them keeping them in the yard,I once looked on and watched him take my youngest son`s hand in his mouth and lead him away from the road.(untravled dirt road, but still Dundee knew it wasen`t a place for children)
He is an all around dog, protective when he has to be,gentle with animals, not to mention a killer frisbee dog!
And then we have a Pug named Mojo who is always on a diet otherwise he`d look like a blimp with legs.I swear if we were to throw a 50lb bag of dog food on the floor he would eat till death.he is very entertaining,a real clown. He has taken on the task of keeping the squirrels away from the bird feeders so I guess I`ll keep him around even if that means hearing all his gross little Pug noises and smells!

I`ve never tried the picture thing so I hope this works:

OLD POST: We have three dogs~ Sophie a 12 yr old pit/chow mix, Luna a 7 yr old wolf/husky mix, and Quill a 2 1/2 yr old wolf/husky mix. They're all very spoiled and very sweet. Got Sophie from a Southern CA shelter as a 6 wk old pup and had to really fight to get her out alive due to her breed. We adopted Quill last Aug. and she's sure brought new life to our little pack. We got Luna, my soul dog, as a pup on one of our trips out here to MT before we moved here.
We also share our home with one kitty, Catman, 12 yrs old ,and seven five week old chickens.

UPDATE: Hee hee! I was looking at this thread and my how my life has changed.... Now up to seven dogs and over 100 misc. poultry!
We adopted another wolfdog and a blue heeler and have two foster wolfdogs that have been with us for a little over a year. Still have the cranky old cat too.

Poodle named Doodle (I didn't name him so don't blame me). He is by far one of the smartest dogs I have ever had. I can name a toy and he will go get that toy. I am hoping to get another poodle this fall. I have had a wide variety of breeds. I had a Norweigin Elkhound that was my soul mate and a Aussie that was probably worthless as a working dog but was a love. Doodle is a large toy (10 lbs). I want to get a small toy (no more than 6 lbs for my next one.

We have 6! A Border Collie Cross, A Chow Cross, a Lab cross, a corgi cross, an I'm not quite sure (maybe has some border collie in him, but not sure) and a Purebred Rat Terrier.

The chow is the best dog except for he can be a little aggressive with the other male dogs. He loves me and will climb into my lap at every opportunity. The corgi LOVES goats and will get left in pens without us knowing he even got in and just stands at the gate wagging his tail not making a sound.

We (I) have a corgi/collie mix who's almost 3. He's wonderful with our toddler, and he seems to already know that the new baby will turn into a toddler someday (yay, TWO kids!). He's indifferent to the chickens but I think he likes their company, along with the barn cats. And he was good with the goats, except he liked to tease them. We had an old dog that came with the house, and the two of them really hit it off. That dog is gone now, and I think our corgi needs another companion. My husband thinks he's worthless because he's not a big scary dog. I don't care; I'd rather have gentle and smart. He responds to hand signals, can take great care of himself as an outside dog, and knows exactly which thing of my husband's to "steal" when he's bored. Corgies are a lot of fun!

We have a 9 month old sheltie named Kasey. She's the sweetest, smartest dog!

What Kind Of Dog(s) Do You Have? - Homesteading Questions

She's very busy and helps round up the alpacas and barn cats. She's never tied up at home and stays right near us outside. When she's inside and we let her out to do her business, she does her thing and comes right back in.

We want Maremmas for our LGDs and I'd love a Bernese Mountain Dog for another indoor dog.

We have a French Brittany.
He's our bird hunting dog & all-around buddy.
Hard to believe he's already 6 1/2 yrs old!

[LOL - I was just looking back at everyone's photos & realized this is an OLD thread & I posted on the first page of it in 2005!]

He even has his own web site

2 retired racing greyhounds.

We love them both like crazy but for farm dogs, they are absolutely worthless.

Terrible watchdogs. Low stamina. VERY lazy. Scared of their own shadows and eat a lot.

Actually, that sort of describes me too . . .

Three dogs, all house dogs.
A 9 year old Border Collie mix. she is a total dork, I call her "freak" since everything "freaks" her out. That includes taking her picture. I got her from a shelter at 4 months old. She was so freaked out that she could not even walk on her own 4 legs. But she is very affectionate and let's us know if anyone or anything is near our property. Her actual name is Sydney.
A 3 year old Golden named Cody. He is my favorite dog. He did not do the retriever chew everything in sight and be a total hyper boy. Which makes me love him more. As ong as I let him know that I approve of it ie kittens, ducks and etc he is fine with them. But if it is a gopher, field mouse or whatever.... he grabs it and kills it in seconds.
A 2 year old poodle mix Shawnee that weighs around 7 pounds. Drives us nuts but is so cute we can't hold it against her for long. Never had a small dog before so it has been an experience.
Plus a few cats in and out and some ferrets and of course goats. They all get along and that is what is important to me.

We have a yellow lab, around 100lbs, she's an outdoor dog.

Found out about her on a horse message board, she was in the Sioux Falls Humane society.

Story is her previous farmer owner (elderly) passed away, and family had no place for her. They figured she was about 6, and wasn't fixed. Had never been an indoor dog, and not really trained much for what most people expect. She is also very dog unsocial.

We wanted a farm dog, and the Society was so glad to have someone want her, she had been there three months, and as it was now spring, she was a likely canditate for being "pulled for space" as they call it.

We've had her three years now, and she's been doing fine. Loves her job as a "farm" dog and we're so happy to get a dog that already knew about horses, cats, chickens and tractors. She rides fine in the back of a truck, and knows what a crate is for.

We have four.

My dog Brogan is a border collie, about 5 years old. The very definition of an omega dog, the sweetest animal I have ever known. He cares more about toys than being petted, his favorite toy being the cat. He will sit and just stare at the cat for hours (or at least for the five minutes it takes him to fall asleep).

A couple years later, my wife wanted her own since Brogan bonded to me, so we got another BC. She picked out the bully of the litter and named him Angus. He ended up being more Brogan's dog than hers. Brogan is tall, long, and thin. Angus looks more like a bear than a dog, but I think that has a lot to do with the steroids he had to take as a puppy because he is extremely allergic to flea bites. Angus is the alpha mostly due to the fact he is stubborn and will just muscle his way through anything. It is interesting to watch how the younger alpha and the older omega react to each other. The funniest thing is when Angus is running out in front of Brogan, as the alpha should, but keeps looking back to make sure Brogan is following and isn't doing anything more interesting. I don't know how many walls and doorways he has run into while looking behind him.

We also have a pair of Jack Russells we inherited from the inlaws because we had a bigger yard, Buddy and Dixie. Buddy is over 10 years old and finally getting out of his rambunctious puppy stage. I am still amazed at how sturdy the little JRTs are, especially when Brogan, Buddy, and Angus collide with each other running full speed and I hear the BONK of little skulls slamming together. He isn't afraid to get out there and wrestle with the BCs even if he weighs only half as much.
