3 Lab's...

Yellow lab- (7 mos)
Choc lab- (7yrs)
Black lab-(7yrs)

Its called a Lab Trio...one of every color.

My family feels complete now. lol

Yellow lab is sooooo pretty but she's just a young girl and still learning her manners. She starts school in August. The older 2 are awesome. They certainly keep an eye out for us. I am hoping to end up getting 2 of them cert for Pet Therapy one of these years.

I've owned a variety of breeds over the years and currently have two American Pit Bull Terriers. Talk about big snuggle bugs! They love to cuddle, even with the cat. One of them worked as a therapy dog in a nursing home where I was a social worker. Most of the old folk adored him - said he looked like the dogs they used to have on the farm when they were kids. And more than one old lady lectured her kids about what wonderful dogs Pitties are when her kids freaked out to see her loving on him.

I currently have 4 English Springer Spaniels,
Liver white and tan male
Black and white female
Red and white female
Black and white male (from my male and black and white female, for sale)

I am expecting puppies from both of my girls early next month. They are wonderful dogs. Great personalities. I have raised Weimaraners in the past and recently lost my 11 year old English Setter. The Springers are definitely tops though. They are great family pets and hunting companions. They are so full of energy. Looking forward to the pitter patter of little puppy feet.

Take Care,
Jeff

Best dogs we ever had were Meg and Christy, border collies. Took their jobs and their family very seriously. Christy was killed by a car almost 5 years ago, I still dream about her and miss her terribly. Meg died last year at almost 15 years old, blind, deaf and cancer-ridden, but still determined to help with "her" sheep, bless her heart!

Current dogs are Bailey, an Aussie and Tuff, a Blue Heeler that looks more like a couch potatoe with ears. Totally worthless, both of them, except they look so ferocious that nobody will get out of their car unless we shut the dogs in. Which I guess is what we wanted them for anyway. Bailey is technically DH's and Tuff is technically DD's although I seem to do all the feeding and care. If the opportunity ever arises, I want to train another BC. If it doesn't, I'd like a Corgi as a companion dog. Just what I need -- a dog that's smarter than me, and knows it! :haha:

dogs

We have 3 dogs. Thelonious is a 3 yr old Chihuahua, little dog big name.
Stretchy is a 4 year old Dachshound, we adopted him. He was so skinny but within a week he was looking great!! He loves to sneak into my 7yr old daughters bed and cuddle under the blankets. Lucius is a 9 mo old Plott hound. I love my two little dogs because they do a great job of keeping people out of our yard and letting us know when we have company. However Lucius is an absolute doll!! He is brindle with gold eyes. He is a good size dog and loves to jump over things, yes over! he jumps over my 10 year old daughter and he jumps over my raised bed garden and when he comes down our back stairs he jumps the last 5, he has now learned to avoid the glass door but it took a little time and a lot of windex!! When we make our move to Missouri I want to add a BloodHound to our troup and a Great Pyr.
As you can tell I am a dog person, but I do have some very special cats as well. If they would only listen to me.

What kind of dog(s) do you have?

The first dog we have is a 14 year old part/border collie. (Aussie) Originally got her to help guard the chickens in the chicken house. Started having a dead chicken here and there, and then partly eaten ones. Finally determined that she was the reason why they were dying! She got tied out, and still has killed chickens if they get in "her" circle and aren't quick enough. She is really starting to show her age.

(Princess) Our 7 year old female Great Pyrenees does live with the chickens & goats. Very good female dog that when she has gotten out, checks out the neighbor's but always comes back. Haven't had any losses from predators, and have found a possum that got into the chicken coop, but never made it back out alive!

(Juliath) a mixed shephard dog was an adoptee. We had a flood in our area in 1996 and he showed up at the neighbors. Neighbors mentioned to us about how nice of dog he was, so we adopted him. We figure he is about 12 years old.

(Boots) a boxer mix dog was found in the middle of the road (on a curve) at the neighbor's 2 years ago. I was afraid she would get hit (and I'd find a dead dog in the middle of the road if I didn't get involved) so took her home. Called the neighbor and found out she must have been dropped off. She is now adopted too.

(Pepper Jack) which is a 2 year old part/black lab showed up at our doorstep one day. Eventually found out that he belonged to some people 2 miles from our place. When I called, they wanted to know if we wanted him. It seemed that the guy had been working at somebody's house and they mentioned they were going to get rid of him because he chased cars. The guy went home, thought about it, and decided to go back to get him. By this time the people had taken him to the humane society, so he was bailed out, fixed, and taken home. However, he wouldn't stay home as he liked to gather up the neighborhood dogs and run around. These people wanted a dog who they didn't have to tie up so he could kill ground hogs and the like. So we adopted him.

So far we are up to 5 dogs, all of which live tied outside. We have a road that splits up our property, and dogs that are allowed to run would quickly be hit with a hill and curve on the road. Can you tell we have a soft heart for animals with our adoptees?!?

I've three canine companions. The boss and oldest is a true hariless Chinese Crested. The second oldest and the the one who will not give up until she gets her 'possum, is a Lousiana Catahoula. Then there is my canine soulmate, the greatest breed in the world, a Performance bred American Bulldog. Here's a link to their photoTango River

We raise and show Afghan Hounds. Right now we have about 12,,,but that number fluctuates with rescues coming in and out and puppies.
We also have a hairy hairless Chinese Crested. She is the boss!!!!!

We have 2 Pyrs; huge, loveable, bumbling, drooling, clutzes!! We also have 2 afghan hounds, much gentler, mild mannered, less drooly dogs. Our pyrs stay outside or in the barn, and our afghans like to be indoors with us at night especially. I don't walk any of these dogs, even when they are on a leash. They all try to walk me!

One Welsh Pembroke Corgi, Sassy, who is pretty sweet and loves to tell everyone how mistreated she is and then invites them to throw the frisbee. An indoor dog. We think she is about 9 years old -- we are her 3rd owners. She gets very excited and goes ape whenever someone lights a flashlight or strikes a match ---

Before her we had a 1/2 border collie 1/2 English sheep dog, Katie -- she was a dear and lived 16 years.

Oh my, ThreeJane! Yes, at 6 years old I guess it's time to just throw in the towel and love him for who he is! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a whole pack of dogs. My mother said when we went from 3 to four dogs we crossed the line from eccentric to weird. I say the more the merrier!

I've been trying my darndest to cross over to wierd . My Catahoula's momma and a Catahoula I think is the poppa are feral dogs in my area. I carry three different treats in the truck when I'm out and always take the long way around to try to catch them. They belong with us

dogs

I have a very adorable if not slightly annoying Chihuahua named Bunny (name was my ex-husband's idea but she was used to it so I didn't change it). She is 7 years old, long haired and thinks she is a people. Actually my parents are spoiling her rotten right now so she thinks she is the queen of the house here. Since we've been visiting my parents in AZ she had gotten into chasing the rabbits, ground squirrels, birds, lizards, and anything that moves. Fortunately there aren't many snakes around here, at least not that many that we have seen. (knock on wood)
She is my first dog and I got her in the divorce. I think I got a good deal because she has been such a great companion for me. I thought she looked like an ewoks at first (those ones from Star Wars) but she kinda grew on me and now she's my baby girl (no matter how old she is). I think I would have preferred a bigger dog but what she lacks in size she makes up for in heart.

I have 3. There's one Bernese Mountain Dog--Ansel--who just turned 10, a Husky--Lola--who is 8, and a Doberman (mix?)--Elke--who is 7. The girls are both rescues. They're the best, and they're all so different. Ansel's the big sweetheart, Lola's the nutball, and Elke's the cuddler/fearsome protector. They're all very smart, but Ansel took the best to training because he's the most people-oriented. Lola knows what you want her to do but doesn't care, and Elke is usually too busy watching out for potential danger to listen to any silly commands. We live in the city now, so she has lots of "ne'er do wells" to keep her eye on.

Has anyone ever heard of using a Bernese Mountain Dog as an LGD? My guy is a total gentleman with all sorts of animals big and small, and he's great at keeping watch over his territory and barking when anything suspicious comes around (he's got a wonderful big woof), but I don't know that he'd actually be able to ward off determined predators. Berners were bred as all around farm dogs--they did some guarding and herding in addition to the traditional cart pulling. And, they're probably distantly related to Pyrs and all the other molosser breeds. But I think they're pretty far from their guarding heritage. It's obviously too late for Ansel to start now (plus we don't have any critters for him to guard yet!), but I often wonder if it would've been a good job for him.

TOO MANY dogs.
I have corgis (First breed I showed, decided I hate showing them- trying to put a 40 pound dog on a table is ridiculous and I'm too klutzy to do it well. My boy competes in agility once in a while and we're going to try rally-o in the fall when there are some shows within driving distance), rough collies (farm collie type- 1 rescue, 1 co-owned bitch, 1 puppy-obedience prospect who is INCREDIBLE- my goal with her is to get a CD before she's a year old and I thnk we can do it- we're going to a match this weekend in preparation to trial this fall), and 11 puppies from the co-owned bitch who are a week old )and papillons (much more reasonable to show, plus, more fun to groom than the corgis. My male is ready for novice agility, also in the fall. I hate budgeting- I can either show OR take classes, but not both at the same time...)

I also do rescue, but don't have any fosters right now and won't until the puppies are 8 weeks and have had their shots, since parvo is so endemic in my area. My last foster was a Bichon or Bichon mix, the foster before that was a corgi bitch who was SUPPOSEDLY spayed but turned out not to be- Tonyaah from this board has one of those puppies. My RC male was SUPPOSEDLY a foster (that lasted oh, 30 minutes, but I insisted he was a foster alot longer than that) because his breeder is having personal trouble and had to place nearly all her dogs- she's the one I co-own my collie bitch with though, and as she's getting back on her feet, is starting to do stuff again.

hisenthlay, there's someone local here that has an older BMD, I dont know if they use it for LGD work but I've never heard any horror stories of it going after their stock, I know someone else with collie mixes that have lost a few birds to their dogs.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...uck/dingo1.jpg

My dog, Dingo, is a 5 m/o chihuahua, lab, cocker, shih tzu, terrier, who knows what else mix, he's a very smart dog and great with my birds but I dont leave him unattended with them he does get excited when we go down to see them though and tries to greet them like they're dogs, my moms dog is a 9 y/o cocker/lab? mix.
