Just about any date sounds good to me...FYI, We already have $56 gathered from donations made at this last get together, and I haven't put any in. I usually just make up the difference, when paying...since I was 'put' in charge of this part of it.......... Thanks Marlene!!! So, if Rea and I get there on Thursday, and kipe 3 sites, we'd be able to have 18 people, is that correct? Math is NOT my strong suit.... I personally would like steele creek too, the area is super spectacular....and Tana, you can get on the Buffalo National Park site, and it has lots of info about all the camping areas. Hope you get well, and it doesn't go into full blown pnuemonia. I got blessed with that fun event last new years eve...........the only silver lining to it, was that I got to be shown just how wonderfully lucky I am in my friends....
Marlene, Phoenix has recovered from his egg shock quite nicely...I should have my pics tomorrow or sunday....I canNOT wait to see if they came out well...especially the ones[that I managed to get!!] of Phoenix the yolk-eyed dog.......... You know, he's such a good sport....he did seem a bit embarrassed, but recovered nicely....

Hey All,
Gotta make this quick, we got a heck of a storm coming in, lights are a flickering, phones are clicking and things are a bleeping on and off.
Marlene & Ladonna,
I promise I'll put my thoughts & ideas in on the spring picnic by tomorrow.

 Hey All,
Okay the dates Marlene suggested sound fine to me. Except that between the last couple of weeks of May to mid-June school graduations may be a problem for those us w/ kids.
Might get Laura & Russell to give some input has to when her school year ends, think she said she doesn't work fridays by that time though.
I really don't have an issue with Clay missing a couple of days of school (sure he doesn't either ) so I'd only be concerned w/ Erin's graduation if she decides to attend it, (she hasn't decided yet ) since she is actually finishing school in Dec.
More people might be able to attend if it was actually done over the holiday weekend, but the parks are horrendously over crowded at that point and even if some us get there on Thursday nite, we may not be able to get enough if any spots.
As far as the location goes, I'm partial to Buffalo Point, it would be great to have another one there as much for sentimental reasons as location to the water w/ better swimming and location to trails for hiking and music events held in the park.
As far as cost goes, well I'm starting my stash jar for it, gonna be adding $5 a week starting now to fund this trip since I'll be coming from farther away this time. I'm willing to allot 1/4 of that to help cover campground fees for the weekend. In general we have not really had a problem covering any of the fees for all who come, so don't let that hold any one off from attending.
Okay, done with my input.
Had a great time as always on this last picnic, but were are the dang pics!
Corky will you and the sultan be returning w/ our new mascot? :1pig:

school doesn't get out until may 24, but i do have school on fri in may, it's just april we don't have school on fri, if we don't have snow days to make up. i've never had a problem with my children missing a day of school, either, b/c they are good students, and that close to the end of the year, there's not much learning going on.....at some schools.....i'm thinking at mine we'll be working them hard until the end
(caitlin moved to my school this week and is appalled at the amount of work she has she's never been to a school that requires this much work before. )
i have no clue when our 8th grade graduation is, so that will weigh into if i can show up or not

Hey All,
Well like I said I'm open, Clay can miss school for a couple of days, no problem, and I'm trying to the get the info on Erin's school graduation plans.
As soon as I have that, I'll let y'all know.
The only other problem I might have, is that I'm going to atempt to go back and start taking classes again after the first of the year towards my associates degree, so I may also be dealing with finals at that time.
So I say pick a date and a site and then people can start logging in on that info and if the date seems to be problem for several people then we can change it.
Now off to Jasper for the bluegrass fest and visiting w/ the Battertons!

Sorry Rea for this late reply. You know it is hard to get around to this message machine, what with kicking back in the recliner while the harem girl fans and feeds me the dates etc. Sometimes I just have to remind her that I am the Sultan ( the shh.(boss) and she is my harem girl so I get to do what i want. { Corky may I please pretty please use the message machine?}
There now Rea see how effective it is when I put my foot down and demand to have my way?
Now in reply to your post about the mascot, If things don't get too hard around here and force us to butcher her, we will bring Miss Piggy to the Spring event. Hopefully she will not be with piglets by then. :1pig:

All hail the Great Sultan!
Master of none and a harem of one!!!
So your harem girl kicked ya out of the chair and told ya to get busy, eh?
Glad to hear Miss Piggy will be making a return visit, she will definitely be an asset in helping any newbies or some of lost regulars in finding the homesteaders picnic location.
Hey Corky did ya try Russell's soap making method yet, I need to get that formula again if you remember it.

rea, do you mean russell's soap recipe?
if so, here it is:
4.5 pints lard
5.5 pints water (or goat milk )
1/4 cup ammonia (although he usually leaves that out)
2 TBSP borax (which he usually leaves out, also)
mix this together (does NOT have to be heated)
slowly, carefully, add the lye.
stir about 45 min to 1 hr, until you get trace. pour into prepared molds.
enjoy. ours is usually useable in a day or two, i let it cure as long as it takes me to get thru a batch

Hey All,
Okay, BeesandBunnies has started sending the pics, only have 3 so far, but I've decided to place them all in a public photo album on yahoo to which I will provide the link.
I will add more pics as I receive them and then update with a post and the link again.

Well I did all the picture stuff right, but my link won't work????
Can someone tell me what I did wrong there?
BTW, you can copy and paste that link into your address bar to get to the album for those who can't wait for the fix on what I did wrong.

I have added another 4 pics to the album since this afternoon and this concludes BeesNBunnies pictures for the event.
Anyone else want me to put their pics in there, let me know and I'll do it.
Again the album is here---> http://photos.yahoo.com/mightyjo0524
and the link seems to have fixed it's self, because it is now working.
