We built our first home off-grid without power tools. Borrowed a generator and skill saw but only used it a few times as it was noisy and a nuisance to start. I have lots of good old sharp hand saws. We build the house with local rough sawn lumber, so we had to cut both ends of every piece of wood that went into the house, all by hand. (we used the power saw to cut plywood while doing the roof, and decided that a SHARP handsaw, not a new junk saw, did a better job). I will admit that a cordless electric drill is great for driving screws, but it can be recharged from a auto cigarette lighter with the right charger. We then had an old 1920s vintage Delco light plant to charge our 32 volt DC batteries until we got our first wind generator installed, and then in 1981 put in our first solar electric (PV) panels, which we are still using at a different house.
