Meg, sorry you lost your girl. Without a mess, for full grown 'scovy, even a female, you are probably right ruling out the usual suspect like fox, coon, etc., they would be in for a fight even if they surprised it. Even a dog is usually going to leave a mess, as they will normally kill by shaking. If it were around me I would think puma/cougar, but I don't know how many of those you might have. Owls are quick and silent killers, but if you think she was too large for a hawk it would seem and awfully heavy carry for an owl as well, but both may be able to carry more than you think. I would tend toward your guess of bobcat, fast and strong, and they would likely have young in the den right now, so would quickly take it off for their young.
