OK, I'll play.

I once had a dog that puked up an entire squirrel ( or rat, I'm not really sure) sans fur. It was the most bizarre and disgusting thing that I have ever witnessed. I'm thinking that maybe I will start an entire thread on the incident....

They sell a "chocolate" kiss especially made for dogs. I guess it's artificially flavored. My dog doesn't care for it, but she loves the peanut better ones. And I had a cat who'd do anything for broccoli.

Our dog loves chocolate but we don't let her have it as it could kill her.

I believe the problem with dogs and choc is mainly from the dark or bitter sweet cooking choc. Milk choc has much much less of the bad chemical in it. At least that is what i get from our country vet!

I once had two puppies, brother and sister eat a whole sack of these chinese dried plum candies and then they followed it up with a whole plug of red man chewing tobacco. I couldnt begin to describe the mess or the sounds they made .....BIG EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. These were also the same dogs that grew up to enjoy slices of grapefruit. Most dogs will eat anything that wont eat them first. :haha:

Way-ull, and maybe this is a corollary thread, you know....

My Cousin's Dog....

Was very sick after Easter, she raided a basket and ate some Dove's chocolate eggs. Can't fault her taste, anyway, but my cousin ended up in the vet emergency clinic with her.

So I believe the chocolate thing.

Every Christmas my parents' schnauzer/poodle mix ate an entire Whitman's Sampler that she unwrapped from under the tree when we were at school.

Every Easter she got her paws on a chocolate bunny and would eat everything but the candy eye, which she would hide behind my bedroom door.

Now I'm sure chocolate's toxic to most dogs, but definitely not all.

my cocker spaniel once ate an entire 2 layer round chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing and the birthday candies. he stole it off the FREEZER that i didn't think he could reach. apparently, a cocker can stretch to about 3 feet tall and then stretch an additional 2 feet back when it smells good enough. he didn't touch the vanilla cake sitting next to it. nor did he ever get sick. he has also eaten an entire block of velveeta cheese (sitting in the middle of the counter in base housing), a 3 lb tub of that margerine stuff before i quit buying it, and an entire taco salad (lettuce, salsa, the whole shebang) and lots of other stuff. he's never suffered any ill effects from any of it (and since he's an inside dog......i'd know). we learned to keep food in cabinets or fridge, back of the counter isn't enough.
