Pure breed black lab of ours had them, dont know why they werent removed, maybe someones squeamishness? lol Anyway, she got them caught all the time, almost tore them off several times, and it was very painful for her. So finally when she went in to get fixed we had the vet take all 4 off, they had to have stitches wich where taken out when her surgical stiches where removed.

All in all I think she was happier without them, having had that experience I much prefer dogs without them. in dogs that still have them I've had the same experiences as previously listed, growing straight, growing overly fast, and so forth.

We have shnuazers, (I know spelling lol) and I hate having there ears whacked, the edges never quite seem to heal correctly and are always flaky. I prefer their regular ears, there nice and soft. I've never actually seen a shcnuazer with its tail un-cropped, do they curl or are they straight?

"Yes, but we can't scratch our noses with our toes?
I know I can't

Do kids run thru the woods, field, thru deep brush,
bare footed at high rate of speed..."

actually bush people children in thailand(among other places) do run barefoot through the woods..
and if I really.. REALLY wanted too I could scratch my nose with my little toe :haha: .

Good Idea... I will tell the almost blind 1 year old rescue Golden
to be more surefooted when she is having some fun running

My Lab/Dalmation mix does. But my peek-a-poo doesn't. The lady I bought my peek-a-poo from had it removed when she was a couple of days old.

Been in Goldens since 1985... Only had two that didn't have the dewclaws removed
Rescue Goldens

Sorry, our latest litter was in June, before that 11 years ago...

If we ever breed again( we are not backyard breeders) I will remember this...

My dear departed labby didn't have his removed and he tore them off several times in the field. Caused quite a bit of trouble now that I think about it. I'd have them removed if I was getting a puppy. I would have had it done to my lab but I didn't know it could be done.
