one thought about the BARF diet....I think it's great if you can afford to feed it and IF the meat is organic...especially the kidneys and livers. These are the blood filters and if the animal was a typical commercially grown critter complete with growth hormones and antibiotics it is filtered into these organs and your dog or cat then eats them....kinda counteracts the whole purpose of the BARF diet in my opinion. Myself, I feed the brand that Costco sells that doesn't have corn in it and supplement it with the chicken "goodies" that I kept when I butchered my fryers and any scraps I come up with in the kitchen. I also add some homeade vitamin/mineral supplement that includes Celtic Sea Salt (has 80 different minerals in their natural state -great for the chickens donkeys and us too!) bone meal and dried wheat or barley grass and other things. My dog's coat looks great!
