I have a chi/pom. It takes after the chi's, if the temp isn't in the 70's it just shakes when outside. They perfer warm temps.

If the owners does show up, I bet they would pay for the vet bill. I had a min sneuzher [sp?] come to my place. I finally found the owner. She came and was so excited that I had him and he was found. She wanted to pay me for taking care of him. No way. I was just glad they were back together.

Could it be a Miniature Pinscher? They look very similar to the Manchester Terrier, but are more varied in size, I believe. Ours only weighs 7-8 pounds, but they can get up to 20. Ours (Weasel) is sort of a reddish brown with the bat eats that you mentioned. When we fold down her ears, she looks like a miniature weiner dog.

As much as I joke that I would give her away in a heartbeat, she is the best dog I have ever been around. If you were anywhere near Ohio, we'd take her off your hands. Weasel is 12 years old and we keep saying we need to ease in a replacement for when she is no longer with us.

Good luck with your new best friend.

sidepasser, you have a kind soul. I can't resist the "eyes" that beg for you to love them. I've only had one dog dump here (cute as the dickens black lab puppy) but I had to take her to the local rescue. We have 4 dogs as it is. We get lots of cat dumps. I usually take them in, fatten them up and they stay as barn cats.

Sidepasser and the pooch[/QUOTE]

Thank-you thank-you !! I know you will never regret doing her a favor...& she will return it..One of my puppies went on to be the model for the chihuahua collector plate Paws Prints On Our Hearts from Bradford..There couldn't be a better discription of what happens when they share our lives..
Often they get scared of something when in unfamiliar situations & run so she may have gotten out of a traveler's car ...We have helped find the little ones miles from where they were seperated from family..Also people pick them up & go with them so she may be a long ways from her home.. Just a note ...they make good footwarmers in bed...! GrannieD

Hi,

No luck so far finding her owner, I called the Humane Society and told them about finding her and where and gave them a general description (size and weight and sex). Called all the vets in the area and now am going to print some flyers and put them at the feed store and other public places.

She's doing great, adjusting well and Amos, the Pyr has decided that he won't eat her, but he will ignore her crazy jumping around trying to play. She's taken up with my rat terror, Lucy, and Lucy wants to play with her when I take her outside to go potty so it may work out yet. She's getting a sweater today, she gets cold outdoors but likes to go out and explore. She's funny though, doesn't like to get her feet wet! Shakes them off like a cat.

I guess I'll have to give her some sort of name, "come here pup" is getting old...

So far no accidents in house and she hasn't chewed up anything but her pig ear treat and that is a point in her favor.

How about calling her Ethyl to go with Lucy?

I had something somewhat similar happen last month. We get a lot of pets dumped off around here. Town folks dump them mostly. Eight times out off ten the dogs are vicious. Like everyone else around here I deal with the problem myself. I don't enjoy it. It is a a nasty chore that you just roll up your sleeves and do. We get cats dumped out too. Feral cats are so terribly destructive hat they also get the same treatment. I love dogs and cats but when they are dumped they become destructive pests. One of those jobs that as disagreeable as it is, it needs to be done. It makes me angry that those town folks are making me do their job for them.

Last month a black and white cat was out by the garage prowling around. I seen it for a couple of days but for some reason I just left it alone. It has been hanging around the garage for a month now but I can't bring myself to shoot it. I don't know why. It was down on the lane and thought that it was as a good of a time as any. I had my rifle out, cross hairs where they needed to be to humanely kill the cat and I was ready to shoot but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. For some reason I just couldn't.

I guess I'll start feeding her and keep her (looks like a her but I haven't got close enough to pet it or see if it is male of female) in the garage to catch mice.

Must be getting soft in my old age.

I'm so glad that you have taken in the "lost one". She sounds adorable. I too have a few strays around my house, have found homes for many more. I spay or neuter everything that comes my way and count it as a donation to society. It has become more and more difficult in bad financial times to find homes for these "found ones." Most rescue places in our area are now refusing to take animals from outside their area (I'm always outside). We had six strays last year, I dread the coming year---hopefully our economy really is getting better and there won't be as many this year. But I just can't look at those little frightened faces and drive on by---how can anyone???? They never hurt anyone and are alone and scared---so sad. My vet calls me "sucker".

have you named "come her pup" yet? I thought Ethyl was real cute. Just putting my vote in. She sounds so sweet. Really makes me kiss my little dogs. My last 2 toy poodles died last year. Can't wait to get more, but have to get us a house built first.
