We have a sign. "Tracy Unit" because we're on a large ranch that's divided into different places. There's also the Kruise Unit, the Allard Unit, etc. All named for families that used to own that part of the place.

I've never lived anywhere where folks with more than a quarter section named their place. At least no more than just "Smith Ranch" or "Windmill Ranch" (ie, named for a family, or their brand)

Out here, naming one's place seems to be more of a small landowner thing to do...

We thought of it. We designed the sign. We didn't put it out. The reason is we were getting enough sales without the sign. Most of our sales is not drop in but wholesale to restaurants and stores. We're also a bit far off the beaten path so there isn't much traffic anyways. Maybe someday. For now we just have the farm name painted on the mailbox.

Cheers

I have two signs at the end of my driveway..........1st "property protected by Doberman.....with Aids" 2nd "we call .357 NOT 911".....mike

BTW... both were given to me by our local sheriff, and he dared me to hang them...they have been up for about five years...

if I were to name the place, it would say "OLEO ACHERS.........ONE OF THE CHEAPER SPREADS"

I wanted to, but never got around to it. DH and I called our place "Fieldcreek Farm".

I've seen a few places around this area called "Dunbrokus" or some variation.

Wendy I love your neat and tidy farm sign, did you make it yourself? I am assuming Windy Acres is your herd name?

Wow. It is sad that so many people have problems with theft and unwanted visitors. I am always so surprised when I read the posts about trespassing and theft on this site.

I can see where a sign may make tresspassing more of a problem. Once I went up to an old inn to see if they had any openings. It wasn't an Inn any more. The people were civil, but obviously annoyed. Even as I left I could not see any way that I was supposed to know that it wasn't an inn...
