been one there for almost 40 years, our kennel name and family name plus them both on a bullet proof mail box. we used tremclad metal paint and renew as needed. farm name we advertise at the farmers market, may put one up here as well this year! don't need a no trespass sign.

My dad liked 'Private Lane' the sign shop made it when he retired from the highway Dept. so it was a reflective green sign.

Bottom of the pole was his house number inside a SMV reflector on a polished stainless steel sheet...

for myself, for us, for our property? The "Do Not Trespass" signs on the property boundaries and this one says enough.

.....and I always thought I would never agree with you on anything.

I guess I should have never thought "never".

Even though I live right in the center of a small rural hamlet everyone says that my place is "just like a little farm" so I have a sign at my back door that says simply "Welcome to The Farm"

Well, the signs aren't up yet, but they might be soon! They'll say, "For Sale!"

we have one but its just the name. Its not to advertize its more to find the driveway at night and so our invited visitors can find the place.

As far as drawing attention to yourself with a sign and people coveting what you have. I dont think those kinds of people need a sign just an inviting location. and signs that say keep away in my mind create more of a draw for them though maybe a bit more of a cautious approuch. I would rather they come unprepared with a false sense of security gives me the element of surprise. Im always prepared and have my all natural no fail alarm system,
the minuit you hit my driveway my dogs tell me. thier a great deterent all on thier own.

Eventually I will have one on my little place. In my area it is old school to name your place that is way out in the woods. It is more of a down home attitude than drawing attention and showing off.

The only sign I have is
Caution:
STOP NOW!
you are about to enter the wrong side of the rifle range

I wonder why I never have any unexpected company drop by? LOL

I want a sign out front with the hanging bits to be changed as things come in and out of season. Just need to figure out how to make it. Also want ones asking people to keep sheep in and bad attitudes out...

WORKING LIVESTOCK GUARDIAN DOG
Please Do Not Disturb (in bright yellow and black)

it is hysterical when one of the goats hangs out under the sign - gotta get a pic of that someday!

I agree, signs make it look like an 'open for business drive on up' welcome sign. I am happy that the local govt, etc has recognized the fact I have a gate means they have to have permission to come in...

The father of my bud from high school setup the range first when he bought his 57 acres & had dad get 'custom' signs made at the cities sign shop for just below the crest of his driveway.

Rifle Range Sound Horn 3X

It was very effective.

There is a homestead down the road here, across from the park that has a big iron entrance way with the name of the homestead and when it was established. I have met them once, nice folks who bought some plants from me.
