Non-Electric Freeze proof water?

<<This fall I put in a non-electric freezeproof waterer - it has a tube into the ground (for my location, 8') that brings up earth heat, and is well insulated with a 5 gallon buck of water on top. >>

Did you make you non-electric waterer or purchase it from somewhere?

If you made it could you post plans and if you purchased it could you tell us the maker and where you purchased it?

Thanks in advance

Hot Water?

I'm suprised so many folks bring HOT water out when it's freezing outside. I've always thought the hot water would freeze faster. I did a llittle search and found I am right -- but it only happens in some cases:

I finally bought a heater plate for the chicken's waterer. My wife loves not hauling water out 2 3 or 4 times a day...it's been around 0 degrees here the last few days.

The concept is not very hard to make work in a moderate climate with gentle livestock. For the cold of Minnesota with my agressive critters, I bought mine from this place. Very nice fellow, seems to be a homesteader-type individual.
