The little doe I bought in December is growing so fast, and she's a sweetie.

I'm finding that her coat does not mat as readily as my other rabbit.
Does anyone know if it has to do with her young age? I'm hoping this is a trait she won't grow out of!

I was also wondering what traits those of you who breed your rabbits look for.
(I had planned on neutering the buck and keeping mine as pets, but when I priced the procedure with various vets, I changed my mind pretty quick! YIKES )
Too bad, the buck changed a lot once I brought the female home. No more
Mr. Clean. He's turned into a P-U-ey Man-Bunny and marks all over the place, so now he's lost his house privileges.

I've hesitated to get rabbits for two reasons. First, the only outdoor place to keep them is the carriage house, which is unheated, and as cold as Michigan can get in the winter, I doubt any would survive. Second, while I'd welcome them as indoor pets, I'm not sure how my 2 dogs and 5 cats would react - and wouldn't want the poor babies to end up as dog/cat food.

Have those of you with pets had any inter-species problems?

Is it hard to keep them clean with that long fur?

Last month I posted a reply to Christine on the Rabbits for Profit forum regarding satin angoras and you are right - I left the link off. I just read your PM and I think my wife will join in. Here's the link:

Since this thread is back to being current, I thought I'd do an update...
The doe I was waiting on last month I got to pick up yesterday! She's a lovely black French Angora. Every bit as eyecatching as her dad! Well worth waiting for! I'll have to wait until she's old enough to breed, now, to see what she throws with my buck!

I'm just as thrilled with her as I can be!
