We spent over 4 years looking for the perfect piece of property. So during that time we were dreaming of how it would look and came up with the name of "Peaceful Forest" as that was what we wanted. Our home is surrounded by the forest and now our name is called "Peaceful Forest Homestead" and it usually lives up to it's name.

Our's was "Farmer Girls" because we have two small daughters and it's mostly my girls and I that do a lot of the work. But then six months ago, I had a baby boy. Hmmm. Becky

One of the best museums of all time is in beautiful Downtown Chesaw. I hope it is still there.

When I moved in here, about a year ago, I decided to name it "Serenity Plain".
And I'm in the process of building a small home business with the same name.

we had lived in a rather violent, crime ridden part of the valley, and moved to the other side of the mountain....out of the desert and on to the prarie. For the first time, our kids can roam the neighborhood without worry, and we have decent soil so I can try for a garden this year. To us, this house, and land is Serenity.

(Also, anyone ever watched the Sci-Fi show Firefly? To Mal, Serenity was his freedom, his independance. That's the only reason why my husband agreed to the name. Granted, I came up with it while I was watching Firefly, so I guess this reason is as valis as the other.)

I like it! I never thought about Clarksville or Clarks Station, but I still doubt the wife will like it....I'll run it by her anyway! Thanks!

My grandfather named his place many years ago the (Lower Forty's).While I'm not trilled with the name we will still use it as well one day.Just cause.

Attn all Clarks--read the book From Sea to Shining Sea by John Alexander Thom. A/c to him, we are all related. My greatgrandmother, Sarah CLark, remembered hearing Uncle Billy tell his tales when she was around six or so. I have this on hearsay. It is a very interesting background.

We called ours "MCADE MANOR" the first letter in our names and since it is not farmland, but wooded and hilly we thought "manor " would work better..

We named ours "Skookumchuck Ranch". It is a Chinook word for fast water. We live next to a large river.

If we followed your theme when naming our place, we'd have to call it
Semper Gumby Farms.

Semper Gumby = Always Flexible. <G>

We were calling our place Beannacht, which is Irish Gaelic for "Blessing" -- but we're not sure it will stick. Most people can't pronounce it, let alone spell it!

Oh can I relate!
Our place was/is Daite Ean Farm....(Gaelic for Coloured Bird as I raise peafowl in a variety of colours)......For 10+ years in NC that's who we were.....So we kept the name when relocating to AR.....alas the locals refer to us a the new people with all those birds....

Names

When we sold our home and farm the new owners wanted to retain the same name for business rights. We kept 6 river bottom acres where we will comtinue to grow the produce and run the new farmstand from. We wanted something "country ans farmy" for the sign for our stand...The Crowing Rooster Farm" is in the running so far. What do you think for this sign in front of the farm stand?...Joan

Unofficially, our place is called IMALONE HOMESTEAD. I was filling out a NASCO form and they asked for the name of the farm.

I picked it for a small dot on the map that is very near to us and also is the name of a nearby road.

Little Red Cabin was also considered. We live near a swamp, but did not like Swampy Acres.

My husband's favorite bird is the Redwing Blackbird, so something with that in it would be nice.

I used to drive by a place called KickBack Ranch and thought that was cute.

My folks combined their names--June and Arlen and called their
farm: JULEN ACRES

I like AS THE CROW FLYS FARM but my husband hates crows

They are fun to think up: SLOW AS MOLASSES FARM, OVER THE HILL FARM,
TALL TREES HOMESTEAD, SNOWY OWL ACRES, FIELD MOUSE FARM, PAINT IT RED HOMESTEAD, ROBIN'S NEST FARM, CINNAMON AND SPICE FARM, ONCE UPON A TIME RANCH, HARD CANDY ACRES, RED CLAY ACRES, FALLING STAR RANCH, BIG DIPPER RANCH, RACCOON RIDGE, ROOSTER CROWS FARM, STONE'S THROW RANCH, FEE FIE FOE FUM FARM, CATTLE R LOWING RANCH, PEAS PORRIDGE HOT HOMESTEAD, WIND BLOWS FARM, TUMBLEDOWN FARM, HOPSCOTCH HOMESTEAD, OVERTHERAINBOW RANCH. BENDING BIRCHES FARM, MAIDEN ROCK RANCH, CRESCENT MOON RANCH, WITCH HAZEL FARM, COME AS U R RANCH, STAY AWHILE ACRES, GOLDEN GOOSE VALLEY, SPARROW'S CROWN HOMESTEAD, FOX HOLLOW, WHITETAIL VALLEY, WIND BENEATH MY WINGS FARM, CATTAIL FARM, HIGH ON THE HOG FARM, PIG N A POKE FARM.

Just about anything that is catchy!

I moved from the city to a very rural place I had no connections in. Whenever I mentioned I was new here, people would want to know exactly where I lived. (Which really creeped me out the first couple of times!) Since I didn't know the local landmarks, I had to use miles from towns- 25 miles from here, 15 miles from there- leading to the comment of the locals, "You're not near anywhere!"

So I named the place "Knotneer Farm". It is my permanent farm name for ADGA.

As I learned how to REALLY give directions, I learned I should've named my farm That Big Field South Of Maynard Benson's Where The Dumendorfs Had That Little Blue House That Burned Down. :haha:
