I didn't vote, because I've never seen a Lowe's, but there are things about Home Depot that I like and dislike. The one here seems to have pretty good service; the employees are knowledgable, and there's always been someone to help load, both in the store and when I'm putting stuff in my vehicle. One day we were about to buy some timbers for a base under a metal storage shed, and had already loaded them, when an employee told us where there were some less expensive ones that would do just as well. He helped us unload the ones we'd already picked up, and load the other ones. I don't have any problem with their layout, either. But, I agree with many of the above posters that their lumber is pretty poor quality. For that alone, I wish we had a Lowes in the area. That, and my BIL works for a big Lowe's distribution center in Cheyenne, and if they'd build one here, maybe he and my sister would be able to transfer and live closer to us!

Edited to add: I do shop in the small local stores when I can. I got fencing materials from a local steel store, decent prices, excellent service, and free delivery. But sometimes one of the big box stores is handy.
