She probably has a baterical, yeast or fungel infection from the scratching. Could be a flea allergy, but could also be a contact or food allergy. The first thing I would do is take her off the Purina one and put her on a natural foods diet or holistic dry dog food. Nothing with chicken, eggs, or corn in it. Lhasa apsos are prone to allergies, including food allergies. Read the ingredients on the purina one and find a diet that does not have any of those ingredients. My current Lhasa, who has food allergies, eats Solid Gold Holistic Blend dry dog food and canned rabbit to get his meds down. The Solid Gold is more expensive that supermarket. but trust me, a good dog food will save you tons of money in vet bills. You can also make a homemade diet. We had Rags on a rabbit - potato homemade diet when he was undergoing his food allergy trials - if you raise rabbit or hunt, that would be a good cheap choice. Vension is also good. For treats, use raw carrot pieces, lettuce, other veggies. No junk food. No rawhides or pig ears. Switch from plastic to metal or glass bowls for drinking and eating in case of a plastic allergy. Also no plastic or latex chew toys. For fleas, use Frontline. Some flea products can cause allergies or just don't work. Is she on heartworm preventive? if so, make sure it's an unflavored pill. Continue bathing several times a weeks, but try to find an oatmeal or non-soap based shampoo. Rinse with cool water to cool the itches. I certainly would not throw her outside for long periods of time. I'll probably think of a few more things later, but right now I have to go bathe my own little guy.

Update on Belle and Bob. My daughter-in-law came by two nights ago and picked up the two dogs. She did remark that Belle looked better and her fur and skin looked better. I sent the wonder dog food tha southerngurl sent to her. All the dogs liked the food. There was a lot left in the bag so I made sure that she took the food and the toys and chews and biscuits too. Angela remarked that I sure spoiled my dogs!!
The two dogs were ecstatic to see her. Belle just came alive when she walked in the room. You know a dog will love you regardless of how much you love it in return. At least she knows she can bring them back if times get bad again.

I'm glad to hear she's improving, and that the dogs enjoyed the food. Do keep me updated on her if you can.

Oh, make sure the daughter-in-law doesn't overfeed with the new food. Let her know it is concentrated compared to other foods.

What kind of biscuits are those? Do they have corn? It is somewhat common for dogs to have corn allergies, and animal grade corn includes the cob and all.

I will let you know how Belle is doing. I don't think she will get "overfed".
I believe the eye infection was cleared up. The dog food is really amazing. I knew the dogs never ate as much of it as the regular food. I had both out and she always ate the "good dog food". She is a loving little dog and it was heartening to see her skin go from crusty bright red to crust free, normal pink color.
Oh, no corn on my dog biscuits either. Whew that is a relief. The chews were 100% beef hide too.

Oh, I'm just so glad, makes me happy to know she's improved so.

May I quote you on my testimonials page? I could sign it K. S. , if that's your initials?

southerngurl,
Sure you can use my name or initials or what ever. I plan on getting another bag of that food for my two dogs(furry friends) too. My initials are KDM and you can have anyone email me to verify. Thank you very very much. My son loved Belle and they would sneak her into his hospital room at night, so he could cuddle with her.

Is he squinting? Does he have discharge from the eye? If so, what color? Is the cornea clear or is it cloudy? Is the conjunctiva (the mucous membrane on the inside of the eye) red or is the outside of the eyelid red? Probably you should take your dog to your vet ASAP on Monday morning. You don't want to mess around with a potentially serious eye issue or you could end up with a permanently damaged eye.
