Oh! and I forgot to add that I've been struck by lightning twice! Once it knocked down the top foot or so of the fireplace chimney. Both times it took out my phone line. When it took down the chimney, it also blew my water heater, my fridge compressor, the garage door opener, the AC unit I have in the garage apartment....
I looked at the price of getting lightning rods....but it was cheaper to pay the insurance! The whole lightning rod system was very impressive, and I'm sure someone in this forum can give me advice on a much simpler and cheaper way to protect the house!
