I shot a doe here with my new .54 muzzelloader - too small to tag - besides the season is just beginning. Still have rifle season and late muzzelloader after Christmas. I can tag 2 myself plus I talked my father into a license so I can fill both of his tags. freezer will be full of deer. Almost ran into three hen pheasants today. Fall turkey comes in this Saturday - yum yum in the smoker.

Bow season here in NY. Seen lots of deer and actually had a few shots. So far I picked off a tiny tree branch while aiming at a nice doe...that was one heck of a shot let me tell you to hit a tiny little branch instead of a big ol deer. Scared the dickens out of a nice 4 pt (or was he laughing???) when the nock broke off and I sent a knuckleball through his rack. End of the first quarter...score...deer 2, archer 0! Luckily, it ain't over til it's over.

You ARE kidding about being a dirty, no good, loser of a poacher who gives hunting a bad name and screws the rest of us aren't you?

...unless of course it is legal in your state to kill deer without tagging them...?

Ckncrazy, I'm in Monroe County near Lake Ontario. I hunt closer to home during archery but I prefer the Ontario & Steuben counties during the regular season.

cowboy I used to hunt in Corning. That is until I got shot at!! In my opinion there is just too many people on the state land to be safe. I only hunt on my own property during Northern, and my parents in Fulton and a farm lease in king ferry during souther zone.

There'll be backstrap for breakfast tomorrow ! Got a nice little spike horn tonight with my bow. He ran 30 yards and dropped; right in sight of my treestand; amazing. Double lung shot. Dead within 10 seconds. Sure beats following a bloodtrail a couple hundred yards in the dark ! Praise the Lord for those beautiful (and delicious) creatures.

ckncrazy...it's great to have state land to hunt on if you don't have anywhere else to go & if you don't mind getting shot at. Won't hunt state land on opening day anymore after having a slug hit the tree I was leaning against one year. Don't know what the guy was shooting at because there wasn't a deer to be seen...maybe I had dated his daughter or something.
