Companies that use fruit to make preserves, etc. order large quantities in 55 gal. drums from other states. In my area where fruit is usually plentiful they do also rely on fruit from Wa. to complement their own supply. The empty drums are set out in front of the building with a "free" sign. We've picked up several, and give them away to friends. Since they are food grade inside and have a securable lid, I'd like to use them for grain but DH thinks it may be too difficult for me to scoop it out. Maybe he thinks I'll fall in...!!!

I had a neighbor that called the powers-that-be everytime I burned in my barrel. So I got a thrown-away round grill shelf from the dump and put it on top and every time the power-that-be showed up, there I was pushing weiners around and inviting him to stay for lunch. Must have been my lack of cooking skills...he quit showing up and the neighbor finally let me be.
