NOW YOU ALL JUST CUT THIS OUT!!!

Right now in the St. Louis area, it's sunny, about 78' and absolutely beautiful. I intend for it to STAY THAT WAY until about January 1. (not that I really have anything to say about it but.....)

The garden is just about done, a few stubborn zuchini plants hanging in there, the wood (for about 4 years) is all cut & stacked. Still need to hopefully add some venison to the freezer here in a couple of months but have some canned just in case. The woodburner is ready to go.

However - I am NOT putting away my summer clothes until I see frost for more than 1 day in a week. My plants are all still on the front porch and won't come in until it's under 50 at night on a regular basis.

I will say, :haha: that I am very sorry :haha: :haha: that some of you are already :haha: :haha: :haha: having snow. (Now watch - we'll get about 6' of it this year!)

Have a great day!

Nance

Yesterday- nSunday- The air felt different. Temp still broke 90 in Sebring...but we opened up the house and turned on the a/c and left it that way all night and day and slept great!
Winter means a little less humidity and a peculiar luminosity to the light...can't wait to get my fall and winter gardens started!
All you people with green tomato woes- Pickled Green Tomatoes?????

Hey GrandmotherBear wasn't it wonderful yesterday and today? Lower humidity and cooler temps (high hit 80 today). I'm in the north side of Polk Co.

Snow already??? Me...I also am preparing my fall/winter garden. My tomatoes died some time ago from the heat. Fried Green Tomatoes for those northern people. Batter them up, fry in oil and serve them hot! Delicious!

I dreamnt last night that I was watching the news, and the entire US was covered in snow(yes I read this before I went to bed). The kids were going nuts wanting to go outside, asking if it was time for Santa yet, and all I could think of was that I didn't have any decent winter clothes for them yet, b/c just yesterday we were using the A/C. Here (southern IN), we use the A/C during the day and when the sun goes down it goes off or I'd be in bed with the 3 yr old with him clutching at me trying to get warm. Yesterday he asked for his 'jammies wif da feet', lol.

I live three hours north of St. Louis in Quincy, IL...right next door to Hannibal....it's been a wonderful summer for sure. Temps here will be dropping a bit by the end of the week. I'm ready to look at some fall foliage here...tired of this late summer dingy green color. My ultimate favorite time of year has to be spring though. All the greenery is so fresh.
I'm jealous of all you people up north that get great snows. We don't....I'm hoping this year will br diffrent. the almanac said it could go either way this year....could have a wild winter. I'm ready for one myself. I want something on the normal side.
I'm also jealous of all you wood burners. I wish I could do that, but I have to pay for stupid natural gas! Sucks!!!
HH!!

It was 100 here today, I was goat tending in my bikini and drinking gallons of water to maintain hydration. Oh boy, fall will be here this week and I think it will be in the mid 90's. Gotta love the winters. It's the only time you can get outside and do any real work without possible heatstroke. Not complaining. I would not know what to do up north. It was 68 on the front deck at 6 am this morning and i drank my coffe and had to go get a blanket to cover my legs. It reminded me of the Texas winter to come (it usually is about 60-70 by Christmas, or sometimes still 80!) It's time to get my fall garden in!
