Don't know and don't really care about the trend over centuries has been. But over the last 25 years here in Texas:

The hottest summer on record was 24 years ago, with 44 straight days at 100 degrees or over. I remember it well because it was the only summer in the last 35 years that I had an outside job.

This summer has been one of the coolest on record.

Global cooling. Gotta love it!

Wednesday morning Austin had its seventh consecutive record low.
