I made it from one of Tolkien's languages (I think it's Qenya):
lor/olor/olore meaning dream
mar meaning dwelling or home
Another option along those lines is "Lorendor"--meaning dream homeplace/homeland

We call ours Hickory Hollow. At the center of our property where it dips down to the wet-weather creek, there are more hickory trees that we have ever seen in one place before. And, the name just rolls off the tongue well, too.

STAR Farm "Esperadas y suenos"
STAR is after our first filly born on the farm - her name is San Te Amo Rey = STAR and since she is a Spanish Andalusian - Esperadas y suenos means Hopes and Dreams - When you reach for your special star you will live your hopes and dreams!

Green Acres

Our last name is Green, so our friends just started calling it that. I don't mind the name, but if I have to hear the theme song one more time....

The name on all of my permits and licenses is Creekside Mini Farm because the property is bordered on three sides by a small creek. Lately I have been calling it Half@$$ed Acres because that is how the last couple of projects have turned out. :haha:

DreamSpring is my little place off the dead end road, which is off the dirt road, which is off the other dirt road, which is 7 miles north of the the tiny town... it is the land my father recently gave me, which was given to him by his father.

We bought another, smaller place early this summer. It's just five acres and is intended to be our retirement home. So we'll only have a few chickens and maybe a yearly calf and a goat or two. So the name is meant to be Taylor's Rest. Taylor is a our name.
Of course, we've worked like dogs this summer getting it remodled and the list of animals we'll be keeping just keeps growing, so I don't know how much Rest there will be.

Life is good!
Halo

My wife wanted Nubian Acres because of the goats. She also liked the name wispering pines but I told her that would be more appropriate if we had more than one pine tree.
I liked Payton Place since our last name is Payton but she didn't like it because all of the bad stuff in the movie/t.v. series.
The most descriptive name would be...Too Few Acres!

Our is Terre d'Esprit. The literal translation is "Ground of the Spirit". We think of it as "hallowed ground." We figure if anyone comes by and sees the sign and has no idea what it means, they will likely think it something to do with "desperate," which is not necessarily inaccurate. :haha: Maybe they think our surname is Terry and we're desperate!

We call ourselves "Three Girls Growers". There are three of us, all female. I'm the one doing most of the growing of plants, the second girl, my daughter, works to support us and loves playing in the dirt, and the third girl starts kindergarten next week!

We grow a lot, will be growing more, etc. Plant propagation, flowers, veggies, next year-rabbits and chickens. No matter what we grow, where we live, the name will be appropriate. If we do a CSA, still works.

We had named this farm Many Achers, which was true enough. It only worked if you knew how to spell Acres, though....We had it on the farm account, and **every** now and then someone would catch the play on words.
My next place I would like to name Cherry Hill. I visualize a long driveway up a hill lined with cherry trees. There's not much prettier than a group of cherry trees in bloom...

Breezy Hollow because when you open the front and back doors you almost always get a breeze blowing through.
