Look into Quartzite, AZ a winter encampment on the western side of the state. At one time it was free RV parking, but you have to pay for the hauled water. I haven't been there in about 15-20 years.

Southern Illinois down by the Ohio river has pretty agreeable winter temps from my point of view. It's drastically different than up near Chicago or Rockford.

Cypress trees grow in the water of southern, IL lakes, and the lakes rarely freeze. You'll get some cold spells but extended duration below freezing is rare, and snow accumulation is rare. They sometimes get some pretty wicked ice storms and freezing rain.

I like southern, IL in the winter, deer hunt in that area a lot. Was shocked to see the Mount Vernon Dunhams store had a big stock of snow sleds. Can't imagine they sold too many?

I have lived in South Georgia for most of my life. The winters are very mild here (I live in Jeff Davis county about 30 miles south of Vidalia --of onion fame). It normally snows and sticks about once every 10 years or so. Most winters we get maybe a dozen days or so below freezing with very seldom reaching the teens. I often grow tomatoes outside until mid November.

The cost of living is real cheap here (I think the last time I looked like 86% of the national average) but the trade off is there are no malls within 90 miles of us. Plenty of opportunity (even in winter) for fishing, hunting, nature trails etc. Towns bluff park sits on the Altamaha river not far from it's start. It has facilities for small mobile homes/campers. It might not have everything you are looking for but it does sit in the approximate center of South Georgia. 100 miles from Macon, 100 miles from Valdosta, 90 miles from Savannah, 90 miles from Brunswick. http://www.townsbluffpark.com/

My best advice to you is to figure out your biggest priorities and research areas that are the best fit for you. I wish you the best of luck!
