Fig tree, if it will grow in your area.

Figs like a good bit of water.

I wouldn't plant any tree that close to the house.
Personally, I love weeping willows. BUT my mom made the mistake of planting one 20' from the house right on top of our well. Yes, on TOP of the well!!! That turned into a nightmare I'll never forget

If it stays wet enough I'd go for having a bog garden. Instead of an eyesore you could have a beautiful focal point.

Any and all trees and large shrubs will grow their roots into pipes. Willows are not the only ones.

Any plants that get too big will cause broken/clogged pipe issues.

Do as Bearfootfarm said or something similar to it.

I planted mint and lemon balm where our gutters run down to. It does tend to creep out into the yard. Smells amazing when we cut the grass.

And the tubers are sweet and edible! Also consider water celery, Chinese artichoke/crosnes, fuki, ground nuts, (darn it my mind just went blank!) Read Perennial Vegetables by Eric Toensmeiere for more suggestions. Everything listed ddoes well in damp shade.

Cattails use up a lot of water and I like the looks of them. They won't spread to dry ground and are easy to get rid of if you tire of them.
