It's cool here too, upper 40s last night. The tomatoes refuse to ripen, only a few beans so far, the cucumbers are staying small, the peppers are not coloring up, the winter squash is small and not growing, the popcorn just started to tassel a bit. The plants themselves are huge and lush. It's been a good year for lettuce and other greens, though. And I've never picked so many peas.

I so want to go to Minnesota. I have visited a few times and it is wonderful country you all have up there.

This is most unusual August weather here in NW AR. My well is full, and then these cool mornings. I mean the only relief from heat I expect here this time of year is when it gets dry as dust and we have radiational cooling at night like they do in the desert. This year the grass is still green and growing vigorously.

I am not sure what to make of tomatoes. I was experimenting this year with planting them in trench to conserve moisture. Well some little animal destroyed all but two plants. Those two are very healthy and setting lot green tomatoes, but no ripe ones. Guess its the cooler than normal weather as the extra moisture sure shouldnt set them back any.

balmy 70's in the early mornings and HOT High 80's and some 90's in the evenings. Supposed to cool off a little this week-end. So far the rain has missed us so we haven't got any of the cooler temps at night.

Minnesota sounds like a Cool place to live.

41 degrees this morning in south central Michigan. Can you make sauce out of green tomatoes?

The ac is off and the windows are open wide. A wonderful relief from the horrible heat and humidity of yesterday. Expecting record low of around 60 tonight. Break out the down comforter! Theresa.
