I'm sorry for all the people affected by this flooding rain. I understand 400 homes have washed away. The devastation is incredible. If only they could send this rain to us. We are very dry here, down about 5" for May so far. The ground is cracked and the grass is dying. Farmers here, most got their first cutting but may not get a second if it doesn't rain soon.
Everybody out there stay safe. I pray Mother Nature gives each area what they need. God Bless, Sue |
We've had rain here, but nothing like down south or over in the Houston area. I have a friend at Wimberly and she called last night to say her family got out safely but they don't know about their house. The Blanco river, which is usually so shallow as to be wadeable in most parts, rose to 40' above flood level before the sensors went out. Even though I see the pictures and videos, I just can't wrap my mind around that kind of devastation.
Stay safe, folks. |
stay safe and prayers sent.
We are traveling down to the Lake Fork area soon. 4 years ago we experienced the tornado activity and heavy thunder storms there in May. |
I shouldn't be complaining either since my pond is full and the house is safe on a hill but my flower bulbs are rotting in the swamp I call my yard. :rain:

Battening down the hatches, another round coming up in about an hour, looking pretty bad on radar. They say the pattern will change next week.. I sure hope so.
|
I hear you. I am working in New Braunfels atm and the area has been hit really hard. I thought we had it bad in Nacogdoches but nothing like down here. Be safe.

HAHAHAHA! It's now 5/29 and STILL raining! I live around the Crosby/Huffman area in TX. We need some RELIEF! GOTTA LAUGH TO KEEP FROM CRYING... :hysterical:
|
It moved through the Houston area fairly quickly this a.m. Of course, the bayous and rivers are still full from earlier in the week. And they're not expected to crest until today and tomorrow.
We only had a brief, heavy rain early this a.m. where I live (south of Houston). But our ground is so saturated that my plants are starting to die. Looks like I'm gonna lose my almond verbena, bay and double pink rose of sharon. :( |
I splashed through my garden today. The cabbage family is as happy as a clam. But, some of my newly planted bell peppers are at the bottom of the puddles, and it should rain more tonight.
Well, what happens, happens. My garden irrigation system has arrived in he mail. I will probably need it in a few weeks, when it turns hot and my garden will actually NEED the root systems that I expect the plants are not bothering to grow! Looking at the drainage ditch that DS and I dug, I would say that the water table is at about 2 inches deep right now! Any roots below that will likely die off from drowning! I think. My heart goes out to people who are seeing water damage to their homes, and there is nothing they can do to prevent it! |
I'm pretty dry here in PA. My well has been going dry. I'll take some of that rain, please.
|
more rain fir next two days. They are saying it will be critical this weekend. Be careful all.

The weatherman is saying we should get a few dry days for this upcoming week, beginning tomorrow, and then it will rain again next weekend. I will not know how to act if the sun comes out. I can only hope that the people getting flooded will get a break from the rain also. |
