I can't imagine any part of a 70s era car that's not worth far more than scrap value.
Small and odd hardware will bring dozens of dollars each.
Same with chrome and aluminum parts.
Glass and fitting can be goldmines.
Any pollution control stuff is worth BIG bucks.
I wouldn't scrap a pound of it !

Thanks AmericanStand...we're in a predicament. They are located in the city limits of a thriving tourist town. We purchased the property a couple of weeks ago with the intent of cleaning the place up. Since we've got the Building Inspector breathing down our neck, we don't have the time or space to try and part them out. I imagine the salvage guy that's coming to buy them will have a "hay day".

You can unlock the older cars with a bent hanger. Slide a "hook" between the door/frame and pull it up. (I just wanted to be serious for a moment.)

and in those years you SHOULD be able to see the Year imprinted into ANY of the tail lights turn signals front and or back. It should have a 77 (1977) on part of the outside edge of the plastic lens etc. if it is a 1979 it should have a 79 on it, and so on.
I used to do that a lot when working on cars as a auto mechanic back in the day. Or Just wanting to KNOW what year the car is I am looking at. LOL
This way is not a 100% way of doing it but most of the time it is the true year of the auto.

They have been there since the mid '80's. One would break down and he'd go and buy another one. There were three Dodges, and I think an old Chrysler. Don't know the years because they were hauled off yesterday! Actually, the city was very lenient towards the old guy... we are just trying to get the property cleaned up...it's 8 beautiful lots. The house may or may not be worth saving. We don't know yet. But, I feel lucky we got it! I like land better than money.
