Yes, it looks like us NYers are sick of winter, and if anyone says they are worried about a shortage of water this year I will scream. It wouldn't be as bad if the temperature would just stay in the 30s. Sunshine would be nice too. I daydream everyday about warmer weather.

I can't rely on my memory, but I use Accuweather online, and they have a current and past monthly calendar that shows the forecast temperature and the actual temperature.
If you're interested you can scroll back month by month and see the actual temperatures for your area for at last the previous twelve months.

We ran out of firewood this year and are now relying on the furnaces. Well, I suppose that isn't exactly accurate. We have enough to use in case the power goes out for about a week. Our gas furnace requires electricity, too. When we realized how low we had gotten, we decided to hang onto the wood that was left for an emergency. We had been stocked up on an amount that would normally last us about 2 winters. We've always used the wood as a supplement to the furnaces to help keep the gas bills down. This year, there is no such thing as keeping the gas bills under control...

Here, too, we've had an extended very cold snap.... our normal highs this time of year are in the lower 30's, but we are in the single digits above, and quite a few below at night. It's kind of a nuisance. But to be honest, we don't have much snow at all. 3-8 inches, depending. Some bare spots. And that worries me a bit about this pattern sticking through summer, and = drought this summer.
While it's a lot easier for me to walk through really cold air than 5 feet of snow to feed the livestock, I worry about the effect on the fruit trees and other plants come spring.
As a side-note, after the "Polar Vortex" of last year, last summer was temperate, and rainy. Really great honestly, for growing gardens and hay and pastures. I hate 100 degree days more than 20 below.

This winter seems like summer compared to last winter. We were ready to start burning the furniture by the end of last winter. Record snow and cold last year - we got the really ugly weather that not that many others got. It has been a bit cold, but actually not that bad. A few -18F mornings and a fair number of -10F mornings, but not too much snow. And we had some very warm stretches in between with 30's and 40's for weeks on end.

But yeah, if I were living on the east coast or in Ohio or Kentucky, I would say this is a pretty bad winter this year.
