I guess I'm the only one that realized from the get-go that he meant $2.50 an issue...which is cheap compared to most. I do agree, however, that a printed rag isn't going to sell easily, and you can get any information that you need off the internet. Maybe you need to do like Mike McGroaty (???? that doesn't sound right) and create online articles and then sell them. He's from eastern Ohio and makes a ton of money selling nursery plants that he raises from cuttings. He lives on a tiny lot in town. He's not the greatest at writing (or talking, or videotaping for that matter!) but he is interesting, and has a lot of good ideas... and I bought his "package". And it cost more than a year's subscription to your new magazine. Just my 2cents!

I'm not asking you to sign up, all I want is to know what you like reading about! Call me spam! How rude!

What's wrong with trying to start a new magazine anyway? Someone had to start all the other magazines out there you know!

Remember that if it's not nice don't say it
I don't know if part of this was aimed at me, but I was trying to give you honest feedback. Poor editing really, really bothers me, and I don't like to read ANY magazine if I'm sidetracked by it. I have dropped subscriptions to magazines that were filled with typos and poorly edited prose. It's one thing when I'm on a free site like HT, and I'm talking with people all over the world with varying degrees of writing skills - I get what I pay for, IYKWIM. But when buying a subscription, I expect a professional level of journalism. I doubt I'm the only one that feels that way.

As I also stated in your other thread, I feel that a new print magazine is very unlikely to success in today's market. I recommended there that you look at an electronic format, rather than a print magazine. With all the internet sources of information out there, newspapers and magazines are not fairing well...and those are the established publications. It's even rougher on a new start-up. At least with an e-zine, you will have nearly zero overhead, and are more likely to eventually manage to turn a profit.

Sometimes it is kinder to present blunt facts than to just "be nice". I'd like to see you succeed, not lose your shirt.

manygoatsnmore: Thanks for the tips! You were not rude, but the person that called me spam ticked me off.
