I hear that states have changed rules for egg chickens that they have to be in cages that are larger ect, is that whats going on with the birds you are thinking about getting? Say on TV in Cal. it already started Jan 1 and the egg producers are spending thousands of dollars to make the needed changes and cutting down on the amount of chickens they run because of the added square foot plan put in place, so no caged birds on wire unable to stand and turn around. Still dollar birds sound good to me.

I don’t understand the question. $1 for a grown bird must be less expensive than buying chicks and raising them to laying age. I have certainly paid more for chicks.

In didn't see a question.
Your right a buck a bird is way cheaper than raising chicks
Buy a hundred buck a bird, and a hundred chicks, and youll see that IF there is a certain amount of dead chicks/birds, the odds are about even
Owls, Cyotes, dogs don't care if they catch a buck bird or a over 2 bucks bird
Youll put less feed into a buck a bird over its laying life till it either dies or you sell it, than in raising chicks to the same point in their life.
Cats you don't have to worry about with buck birds. With chicks, you do.
