Homesteading? Waking up every morning at 5am no exceptions no holidays, no days off. Feed the stock, (chickens, ducks, goats, pigs, cows, horses) do the milking clean the stalls and pens. This has to happen regardless of the weather, rain or shine, blizzard or heat, sickness or health. This takes about a couple of hours at least. Go in the house grab a quick shower and get dressed for work. Grab a cup of coffee and start the commute to work (62 miles one way). Put in 9-10 hours at work and head home and start the cycle again. Feed and water and clean the stock, milk the cows. Get as many chores done as I can before it gets too dark. Have dinner with the family play with the kids. Then go to bed and start over again. This is just for me, now the wife gets all the rest while I’m at work. The weekends are even better, mending fences and pens doing the thorough cleaning. Etc etc etc. This list can go on and on. The garden, vaccinations, canning, preserving, it’s hard work.

We wouldn’t trade it for anything!
